A Celebration of Culture and Community: Highlights from the SCC's Syrian Brunch

On Saturday, April 26th, 2025, the Syrian Canadian Congress (SCC) proudly hosted its first-ever Syrian Brunch — a heartwarming gathering that brought together Syrians from across Quebec and Ontario to celebrate their culture, heritage, and community spirit. Held at 2163 Rue Saint-Louis in Saint-Laurent, QC, the event ran from 12:00 to 4:00 PM and was a true feast for the senses.

From the moment guests stepped into the venue, they were welcomed by the warm aromas of traditional Syrian cuisine — an unforgettable spread of authentic dishes prepared with care and love. Accompanied by the uplifting rhythms of Syrian music and a cozy ambiance, the brunch was not just a meal, but a vibrant cultural experience that touched the heart and soul of every attendee.

What made this gathering truly special was the presence of our community members and friends who traveled from as far as Toronto and Ottawa to be with us. Their dedication and enthusiasm added an invaluable layer of warmth and unity to the occasion. It was a reminder that no matter the distance, our shared heritage and commitment to one another remain strong.

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who attended, contributed, or supported this inaugural event. Your presence turned this brunch into more than just a gathering — it became a true celebration of Syrian identity, resilience, and togetherness.

This brunch marks the beginning of an exciting journey for SCC, one filled with collaboration, solidarity, and purposeful action. Together, we aim to serve the Syrian community across Canada and amplify our voice as a unified and active Congress.

To all who joined us: thank you for being the heart of our story. You made this day unforgettable, and we look forward to many more milestones together.

Youth Committee Launches 'Coffee with Entrepreneur' Series with Inspiring Syrian-Canadian Story

In its very first event, the Youth Committee of the Syrian Canadian Congress hosted an inspiring evening titled “Coffee with Entrepreneur” last Sunday at Kawalees Café! We had the pleasure of welcoming Bashar Al-Dhahabi’s family, represented by Bashar and Sarah Al-Dhahabi, the second generation behind 3BS, a company specializing in dental lab equipment in Syria and Canada. They shared their inspiring journey, the challenges they faced as entrepreneurs in the diaspora, and emphasized the importance of Arab – and especially Syrian – community support.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event a success! Stay tuned for more exciting events!
